Garden-Turned-Classroom Teaches Youth About Growing Food

Jessica M. Colon’s journey in Mount Kisco began with a simple desire to get outside, connect with her community, and share her love of nature-based learning. That intention led her to the Mount Kisco Community Garden, where she met Livia Fleming and soon connected with Allison Turcan of D.I.G. Farm.

What started as a conversation, ” Can I create programs here?” quickly grew into action. Together, they began offering hands-on classes in the garden, laying the foundation for what would become a thriving local initiative. It was here that For the People and Kids took root locally in Mount Kisco, bringing outdoor education, creativity, and community connection to families in Westchester.
